An item dated New York 11 June referred to a tiding from the Herald correspondent in Buenos Aires who reported that the Uruguayan gunboat Suarez (1) embarked troops along the Argentinean coast and destroyed a ship. The Argentinean cabinet ordered an Argentinean gunboat to look for the Suarez and capture her.

1. The General Suarez acquired in 1887 by Uruguay as the French gunboat Tactique. Measured 400 tons. Her armament consisted of 4x1-2’9” guns. Stricken after 1913.
