French submarine Pluviose sunk after collision according to the Dutch newspaper De Tijd dated 27 May 1910

An item referred to tidings receievd from Calais that the steamship Pas de Calais underway from Calais to Dover collided with the French submarine Pluviose. The submarine was resurfacing when she collided with the wheel of the steamship. She immediately sunk taking with her 23 men. The Pas de Calais returned to the harbour slightly damaged. A destroyer, 3 torpedo boats, 2 tugs and 2 dredgers with salvage equipment on board were at the location of the disaster. Three commanding officers of the submarine base at Calais were on board of the Pluviose.(1)

Conway’s All the World’s fighting ships 1906-1921 reports that she (Q 51) was launched at the Arsenal de Cherbourg on 27 May 1907, after the collision salvaged, repaired and decommissioned until she was stricken in 1919.
