Indonesian patrol vessels Alu Alu and Tenggiri bought from the USA according to the Dutch newspaper De nieuwsgier dated 14 June 1951

An item reported that on 15 May at Seattle the USA handed over two patrol vessels to the Indonesian cabinet which were former USN vessels. They were expected to arrive at the end of June at Surabaya and now named Alu Alu and Tenggiri. Another newspaper De nieuwsgier dated 13 June reported that the Alu Alu and the Tenggiri were bought via the Korody Marine Corporation and were indeed former USN vessels with a displacement of 420 ton, a crew numbering 65 men and a speed of 18-22 knots. The newspaper Java-bode dated 13 June reported that they came manned with American crews on their own to Indonesia. With a maximum speed of 22 miles were they suitable for the purpose in USN service namely for reconnaissance.
