Russian gunboat Teretz arrived with instructions for Russian ambassador at Rome according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 17 September 1893

An item dated Rome 16 September reported the arrival of the Russian gunboat Terez (1) at Civita Vecchia. According to rumours was her commanding officer underway to Rome with important instructions for the Russian ambassador. She was the 16th to depart towards Genoa and Toulon.

1. This must be the Teretz of the Kubanetz-class which was laid down in 1886 at Sevastopol, launched in August a year later, completed in 1889 and finally broken up not earlier as in 1946. Her armament consisted of 2-8” guns,1-6” gun, 6-3pdr revolver guns and 2-15” surfaced torpedo tubes (Conways 1860-1905). Jane’s Fighting Ships 1919 mentioned as part of the army of general Denikin/Black Sea Fleet. Since 1904-1906 armed with 2-6” guns, 1-4.7” gun,4-3pdr guns and 2-1pdr guns with a horsepower of 1.500 hp and a speed of 11 knots.
