Dutch destroyer Hr.Ms. Lynx 1911-1929

Of the Wolf-class with as sister ships Jakhals, Fret, Wolf, Bulhond and Hermelijn. The tender for her building and delivery within 18 months was by the Dutch shipyard Kon.Mij. De Schelde at Flushing offered on 6 June 1911. Her building was ordered on 5 September and her keel was laid down on 15 December 1912 between the 2 submarine barracks on the Northern side with yard number 145, in the thrushes around1 August, plating fitted in November and launched on 24 December 1912. Her trials whole berthed were on 27 February and (with a new steam valve on 11 April 1913. Official trials on 15 April and with oil firing on 16 April, gun exercises on 19 April, delivered on 25 June and the 3th departed towards Den Helder. Stricken in 1929. Built within 22 months with working weeks of 60 hours. Contracted building costs ƒ634.000 and costs completely fitted out when for the first time commissioned ƒ 802.139,-. Dimensions 70,104 (between perpendiculars)-70,40 (over all) x 6,553 x 2,04 (fore)-2,84 (aft) and as hold 3,962 metres or 230’0”-230’11¾”x 21’6” x ? x 13’0” and a displacement of 510 tons. Fuel bunker capacity 120 cubic metres coal and 12,5 ton fuel oil. Her two triple expansion 4-cylinder engines supplied 8.300 ihp (projected)-9.190 hp (trials) with 400 rpm allowing a speed of 30,22 knots. With a speed of 20 knots a range of 750 nautical miles and with 8,5 knots a range of 2.700 nautical miles. Four Yarrow water tube boilers. Her armament consisted of 4-7,5cm guns, 4 machineguns and 2 torpedo tubes. Two masts. Her crew numbered 84 men. Fitted out with 2 lifeboats.
