India building with foreign support her own submarines according to the Dutch newspaper Leeuwarder courant dated 19 July 1980

An item reported the Indian intension to built modern submarines with the support of a foreign power. Under secretary of navy C.P.N. Singh did not mention which foreign power just that it was a cooperation project. The Indian press suggested however that India was negotiating with West Germany and that the Soviet Union offered her support. In the past delivered the Soviet Union already eight submarines all built for 1964 to India.
