The Norwegian naval shipbuilding program according to the Dutch newspaper Gereformeerd gezinsblad dated 28 November 1961

An item reported that the Norwegian naval program was to be executed against the end of 1966. The ships now in service were to be replaced by four new kinds especially designed for Norwegian needs stated vice admiral Erling Hostvedt. The new Norwegian navy would include 15-350 ton submarines, 5 large 1.850 ton escort vessels, 5-700 ton patrol vessels and 49 motor torpedo and motor gunboats. The submarines were to be built in West-Germany with each costing around 20.000.000 Norwegian crones. Next spring would Norway lease a German submarine for training purposes. The other ships were to be built by Norwegian shipyards. The escort vessels were to be armed with Tern and fitted out with helicopters for anti submarine warfare.
