An item dated Taipeh 5 May reported that 208 officers and sailors of the Nationalist navy (1) were underway to USA to man where again a destroyer was available via the aid program.(2) She was the third destroyer received in this manner. End 1954 were already two commissioned renamed Loyang (3) and Hanyang.(4) After two weeks training was she bound for Taiwan and expected to arrive there end July. The Reuter Press Association reported that in July another two Benson-class 1.600 ton destroyers and a landing craft were to be handed over.

3. USS Benson, building ordered in 1938, laid down at the shipyard of Bethlemen Steel Co., Quincy, Massachusetts on 16 May of the same year, launched 15 November a year later by Mrs. William S. Benson, commissioned on 25 July 1940. Transferred on 26 February 1954.
4. USS Hilary, laid down at the Philadelphia navy Yard on 16 November 1938, launched on 14 December 1939, completed on 7 September 1940 and transferred on 26 February 1954.
