Venezolan destroyers built by Italian shipyards according to the Dutch newspaper Amigoe di Curacao dated 10 May 1954

An item reported that at the yards of the Italian firm Ansaldo at Livorno a day earlier the keels were laid down of three fast destroyers for the Venezolan navy. They were to be named Almirante Clemente, Juan José Flores and José Morán. The first ship was to be delivered in July 1955. Venezola ordered the building of six destroyers in Italy.(1)

1. The edition dated 10 March 1956 reported the arrival that morning at 08.30 oclock of the new Venezolan destroyer Zulia at Willemstad, Curacao for an official visit. Her commanding officer was Capitán de Fregata A. de Padraza.
