Romanian monitor Bucovina (1915) 1920-1960
On 31 May 1915 launched at Linzas the Austro-Hungarian Sava as part of the naval shipbuilding program 1914-1915, interned between 1919 and 1920 at Novi Sad by the Yugoslavian government and called Soca as part of her Danube flotilla, was she in early 1920 transferred to Romania. On 5 September 1944 captured by Soviet forces and renamed Izmail. On 3 July 1951 returned and finally broken up in 1959-1960. With a displacement of 550 tons were her dimensions 109¼ x 33.8 x 4¼ feet. Her armament consisted around 1930 of 2x1-4.7” guns, 2x1-4.7” howitzers, 1x2-11pdr anti aircraft guns, 4-3pdr guns and 6 machineguns. The armour included a 1,5” thick belt, 1” thick deck while the conning tower, gun turrets and cupolas were protected by 2” thick armour. Oil bunker capacity 75 tons. The engines were designed to provide 1.600 ihp allowing a speed of 12 knots. Her crew numbered 90-100 men.
