USA transferring submarines to Turkey and warships to Greece according to the Dutch newspaper De locomotief dated 30 March 1948

An item reported that the USA would transferred on short notice four modern submarines to Turkey as part of the aid program. The submarines would leave in April a harbour long the coast of Connecticut to their new destination. Another Dutch newspaper De Tijd dated 10 January reported earlier this lease although adding much more details. The submarines were to be brought by American crews to Turkey. Except for the submarines were another 11 warships transferred to Turkey as part of the mutual aid program of 100.000.000 US dollars. Greece received six gunboats and was according to Congress member Carl Vinson (1) to receive in a later stadium also six submarines.
