An item referred to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant which reported that military and political circles in Vienna were upset with the news that Italy intended to built a torpedo station in the lagoon of Marano located between Trieste and Venice. The station was just 8 miles away from the Austrian border allowing Italian torpedo boats to attack Trieste within a hour.
