An item referred to the foreign magazine Le Yacht reporting that the Italian department of navy approved a design for a new kind of battleship with a maximum displacement of 8.000 tons, less armoured, a speed of 22 miles and 8 quick firing guns with a maximum calibre of 20,3cm. In fact it was more an armoured cruiser as a battleship. Four ships were in the meantime laid down. The same magazine supplied later more information.
