The Dutch newspaper Vlissingsche Courant dated Friday 1 December 1939 reported that the Saturday before the Norwegian steamship Snar was docked in the new dry dock on the so-called Eiland of the shipyard De Kon.Mij. De Schelde at Flushing. She was there for cleaning and small repairs and left the dock in the afternoon of 1 December. She was the first ship which was docked in the new dock and her captain was for this reason given a golden watch. Earlier reported another newspaper the Middelburgsche Courant that she measured 3.100 ton and that she also was to be painted.
Rojer Jordan mentioned in his book The World‘s Merchant Fleets 1939 mentioned one Norwegian steam ship named Snar. She belonged to the Snar Dampsk A/S, built in 1920 at the shipyard of Eltringhams Ltd, Willington, Qack-on-Tyne, with a gross register tonnage of 3.176 tons, a displacement of 5.520 tons and as dimensions 341’0”x 48’0”x 21’4” and a speed of 9,5 knots. Ex-Fageraas renamed 1927 and ex-Grong or Grung renamed 1933.
