An item referred to the magazine Army and Navy Journal reporting that British maritime circles wondered seriously about the plans to built 3 battleships with a displacement of 18.000 ton. The reason for these doubts was that earlier was accepted to built with a maximum displacement of 12.500 ton. The Chief Naval Constructor and many officers doubted the value of this enlargement of displacement causing a larger draught and horsepower despite an increased armament.
