An item reported that the new French minelayer Pluton served in the Mediterranean as a gunnery training ship instead of the aged cruiser Gueydon.(1) Although her main armament of 13,8cm guns and further more anti aircraft guns was similar to that of the Gueydon possessed she a far better enlarged crew accommodation.

1. Designed as fast minelayer was she in fact a mine laying cruiser which could also be used as a troop transport for 1.000 men. Laid down at the Arsenal de Lorient on 16 April 1928, launched on 10 April a year later, commissioned on 25 January 1932 caused an accidental explosion of a mine on 13 September 1939 her sinking.
