French navy replacing artillery training ship Couronne by the Amiral Duperré according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1903-1904 no. 7

An item referred to the magazine Le Yacht reporting that the French artillery training ship Couronne an aged armoured frigate of 1861 would be replaced next year by the Amiral Duperré. The latter ship had to accommodate 1.200 sailors and 30 officer trainees although the original crew just numbered 654 men! The Calédonien was maintained as tender for the artillery training.
