Italian torpedo cruiser Tripoli according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1886-1887 no. 9

An item reported that in September at Castellamare the Tripoli the first of four Italian torpedo cruisers was launched. With a displacement of 740 ton were her dimensions 230 x 26 x 16¾ feet. She was steel-built and armoured with a 15½” thick armour and further more fitted out with steel made bulkheads. The 3 screws were driven by independent engines. For each engine were two locomotive boilers available altogether supplying 3.600 hp allowing a speed of 18 miles. Her armament consisted of 5 torpedo launchers (2xbow, 1xstern and each side 1, of which the latter 3 movable), 4-5,7cm quick firing guns, 4-3,7cm quick firing guns and 3-3,7cm revolver guns.
