Italian naval shipbuilding according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1903-1904 no. 7

An item referred to the magazine Schiffbau reporting that of the 3 planned to be built Italian submarines one was now laid down at Venice. Her building costs were estimated to amount 700.000 lires. She was designed by engineer Laurent (1) and to be named Glauco (2). The other two were designed by engineer Ruffini costs each 800.000 lires. Further more were 8-1st class torpedo boats planned of which 4 by the navy shipyards and the other 4 by private owned shipyards. The shipyard of Pattison at Naples was ordered to built 2 destroyers. After their delivery would the Italian navy number 13 destroyers.

2. Launched on 9 July 1905 and stricken in 1916. With a displacement of around 157 (surfaced)-240 (submerged) tons and dimensions 36,8 x 4,3 x 2,6 metres. Sister ships Narvalo, Otaria, Squalo and Tricheco.
