Sweden building coastal defence ship Oscar II according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1903-1904 no. 7

An item referred to the magazines Marine Rundschau and Le Yacht reporting that two tenders were received for building the new Swedish armoured ship Oscar II. The Kockumsyard at Malmö offered a building for 3.864.000 crones and the shipyards of Lingholm and Motala in a joined venture 3.390.000 crones. She was in fact an enlarged Tapperheten design to be armed with 2x1-21cm guns (in armour protected turrets), 4x2-15,2cm guns (in armour protected turrets) and 12 smaller guns. The engines and 12 Yarrow boilers were to supply 8.500 ihp allowing a speed of 18 miles.
