Dutch shipyard Gusto building large floating crane for Marseille according to the Dutch newspaper Het Vaderland dated 4 June 1930
An item reported that at the shipyard Gusto v/h A.F. Smulders, Schiedam the keel was laid down of a pontoon for a floating crane with a lifting capacity of 400 tons destined for the harbour works of Marseille. The edition dated 19 November reported the departure a day earlier of her to Marseille although now called a sheer leg and even the largest ever built by this yard. She was designed to lift concrete blocks with a maximum weight of 400.000 kilos which were to be placed maximum 15 metres below the surface. The steam boilers necessary to power the winches and auxiliary equipment was placed aft in the pontoon. The crane was electrically lightened. Pontoon, the sheerleg construction, the large winches and other auxiliary equipment were all manufactured by this shipyard.
