British submarines HMS Pandora and Proteus collided according to the Dutch newspaper De Gooi- en Eemlander dated 18 December 1930

An item dated London 17 December reported that tidings from Gibraltar were received that the British submarines HMS Pandora (1) and Protheus collided off Gibraltar although both managed to arrive at the dock. Both submarines were part of a group of four submarines underway from England to Hong Kong a voyage closely followed by British naval inteersted circles.

Her building was ordered on 7 February 1928, laid down on 9 July at the shipyard of Vickers-Armstrong, Barrow in Furness, launched on 22 August a year later, commissioned on 30 June 1930 and finally sunk during an air attack at Malta on 1 April 1942. Of the Parthian-class with a displacement of 1.499 (surfaced)-2.070 (submerged) tons and as dimensions 79 x 8,5 x 4,17 metres or 260x 28x 138.
2. Her building was ordered on 7 February 1928, laid down on 5 September at the shipyard of Vickers-Armstrong, Barrow in Furness, launched on 22 August a year later, commissioned on 5 May 1930 and finally broken up at Troon in February-March 1946. Of the Parthian-class with a displacement of 1.499 (surfaced)-2.070 (submerged) tons and as dimensions 79 x 8,5 x 4,17 metres or 260x 28x 138.
