An item referred to a telegram which was published in he Le Populaire reporting that well informed sources said that the Italian cabinet sold 12 submarines to the Spanish general Franco.(1) The crews consisted of Italian volunteers dressed in special uniforms. Two of the involved submarines were called Torricelli and Anfitrite. Official circles spoke against this tiding.
