New large German submarines sighted according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 29 March 1915
An item referred to remarks of the naval correspondent of the British newspaper Times that lately German submarines were sighted with a higher number compared with the ones in the beginning of the war but which were also larger and faster as the earlier submarines. The same correspondent however also wrote that this however did not meant that these new submarines were built during the war. Probably was already started with building the U29, U32 and U36 before the war broke out. The magazine Brassey’s Naval annual of 1914 mentioned submarines of this kind. He could not explain why these submarines were not earlier commissioned. One possibility he brought forward was that this were the only submarines Germany still possessed.
