The Austrian navy budget for 1901 according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1900-1901 no. 8

An item reported that the Austrian navy budget for 1901 was estimated to be around 28.500.000 crones. With this the budget were to be realized the completion of the torpedo cruiser Aspern (1), starting the building of her sister ship Szigetvar (2), a 7.300 tons armoured cruiser fitted out with a ram and a 10.000 tons ironclad, the completion of the coast defence ship Habsburg (3) and starting the building of two similar ships. The personnel strength was to be increased with 2.500 men.

1. Of the Zental-class protected cruisers with as sister ships the Zenta and the Szivetgar, all built at the Pola navy yard (Arsenal Pola). Laid down on 3 May 1897, launched on 3 May two years later, completed on 29 May1900 was she broken up in 1920.
2. Laid down on 25 May 1899, was she launched on 29 October of the next year, completed on 30 September 1901 and finally broken up in 1920.
3, Of the Habusburg-class battleships with as sister ships the Arpad and the Babenberg all built at the shipyard Stabilimento Tecnico Triestino. Laid down on 13 March 1899 was she launched on 9 September of the next year, completed on 31 December 1902 and finally broken up in 1921.
