In 1814 was decided to found a new navy yard at Flushing, Netherlands as the Allies did not accept the existence of the huge shipyard at Antwerp, Belgium. There was a new shipyard made between 1814 and 1825 with five slips of which four were covered. In 1868 was the navy yard closed and the roofing of the two largest slips broken up, the roofing of the two smaller slips existed until 1910/1913and were since 1875 used by the shipyard Kon. Mij. De Schelde for building smaller vessels like torpedo boats but also the earliest submarines. On the weblog of the municipal archive of Flushing is a note published dealing with these roofings. Although it's written in Dutch it supplies details until now hardly published. The link is http://gemeentearchiefvlissingen.blogspot.nl/2013/07/de-kappen-op-de-marinewerf-en.html
