Dutch frigates Prins van Oranje and Sambre prepared for troop transport towards the Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Zierikzeesche Courant dated 20 September 1848

An item dated Amsterdam the 16th reported that the fitting out of the Dutch warships destined fro Java, Dutch East Indies was executed with all hands. That same week were the frigates Prins van Oranje (60 guns) and Sambre (44 guns) towed by the tug Amsterdam of the roads into the harbour of Nieuwediep [Den Helder]. Despite already being full armed were they dry docked, inspected and caulked  en returned to the harbour in just five days. The ships were now prepared for departure which was intended to be on 12 October. The Prins van Oranje would embarked 150 and the Sambre 100 soldiers.(1)
