German government subsidizing civil aviation according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad 1929 no. 6

An item reported that since the Treaty of Versailles (1) it was Germany not allowed to have military planes. The result was that the government subsidize the civil aviation (plants and air lines) on a large scale. The economic crisis made a decrease of the budget necessary from 68 million tot 52 million. The German Lufthansa commissioned her first Rohrbach-Romar planes fitted out with 3 engines on her Baltic lines.

1. Peace treaty between Germany and the Allied Powers on 28 June 1919. The actual armistice was signed on 11 November 1918. The consequences of the treaty was an disarmament of Germany, terrestrial concessions and huge pay reparations.
