German steamship Bolheim sunk by Russian submarine according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwsblad van Friesland dated Wednesday 13 December 1939

An item reported that a Russian submarine sunk outside the harbour of Mandyluotos in the Baltic.with gun shots the German steamship Bolheim of 3.324 tons loaded with timber destined for Hamburg. Her captain, 2nd officer and the wireless operator were killed by grenades.(1)

1. Strangely enough was in 23 August 1939 a non-aggression pact signed between both countries known as the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact.
