German steamship Olivia shelled by Russian submarine according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwsblad van Friesland dated Wednesday 13 December 1939

An item reported that a Russian submarine shelled outside the harbour of Mandyluotos in the Baltic the German steamship Oliva which after her papers were inspected was allowed to continue her voyage.(1)

1. Strangely enough was in 23 August 1939 a non-aggression pact signed between both countries known as the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact.
