An
item reported that the navy consisted of four former Russian destroyers, two
former British destroyers, six submarines (elsewhere in the same item was said
nine), three escort vessels, six minesweepers, 14 patrol vessels, 44 motor
torpedo boats and 10 smaller vessels and a personnel strength of 11,000 men and
a reserve of another 5,000 men. The details were supplied by Mr. David Wood of
