Reorganisation of the British navy according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag: kleine courant dated 28 January 1909

The British cabinet intended to divide the Home Fleet coming spring in a new manner with as result that the Channel fleet increased and the North Sea Fleet increased. Her North Sea Fleet consisted nowadays of 6 battleships and 6 armoured cruisers. As a result of the new policy would the battle squadron consist of battleships larger as 16,500 tons and with a total armament of 48-12” guns and 20-9.2” guns. A new ‘North Sea Fleet’ would number 8 battleships all of 16,350 tons and 6 armoured cruisers all of 13,550 tons and with a speed of 23 knots. The North Sea Fleet would totally number 14 battle ships and 12 armoured cruisers being then the fastest, heaviest armed and best protected war fleet of the whole world based at Rosyth.
