According to tidings from Candia dated 24 January published
in the newspaper Courrier de Smyrne left the British ships 8 January the
island. They stayed there for some time to prevent quarrels between the Greek
and the Turkish but after their departure the hostilities started again. Four
Egyptian war vessels arrived 21 January at Candia and Suda after having
captured the Greek goelette of war of baron Reyneck representative of the
Government send to Candia.
