The Greek and Turkish navies in the Levant according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 31 January 1823

Constantinople, 24 December. According to the newspaper Oesterreichischen Beobachter was the new Turkish admiral busy with fitting out the fleet. While large ships weren’t effective against the Greek fleet was chosen for smaller ones. The Greek navy in the meantime increased her fleet. At Ipsara was an expedition fitted out. In the Bay of Smyrna were many Greek warships lying threatening with an attack.
