According to a tiding dated New York 13 October were the conversations between Mackenzie King and MacDonald at Kingmere, Ottawa. According to the common opinion were these conversations a result of a point of negotiations between MacDonald and Hoover and important for Canada. Rumours suggested that the conversations at Kingmere were mainly dealing with the demolition of the naval base at Halifax.
