British transport Freenesbury returning from Cape Coast, Ghana according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 27 November 1824

London, 23 November. According to the newspaper the Hampshire Telegraph dated 20 November, arrived the transport Freenesbury that afternoon coming from Cape Coast from where it departed 29 August. It transported several sick army and navy officers. Recently died officers there due to fevers caused by the climate. Since the Ashanti were defeated and shattered all was calm at Cape Coast [=Ghana]. The Victor captured a Spanish goelette with 270 slaves on board.
