Danish submarine Dryaden (D2) 1924-1946

Part of the Daphne-class with as sister ship the Daphne. She was laid down on 19 December 1924 at the navy yard at Copenhagen, Denmark in 1924, launched on 3 June 1926, completed 1927 and commissioned on 1 September, scuttled on 29 August 1943 (at that moment decommissioned and laid up) by her own crew at Holmen, raised on 13 November by the German forces however not repaired and sold to be broken up in 1946 (officially decommissioned on 22 August). With a displacement of 308 (surfaced)-381 (submerged) tons were her dimensions 49,00 (over all) x 5,20 x 2,50 metres or 160.9 x 17.1 x 8.2 feet. The two Burmeister&Wain diesel engines and two Titan electric motors delivered respectively 1.200 bhp and 400 shp allowing a speed of 13,4 (surfaced)-6,8 (submerged) knots. Her crew numbered 18 (peace)-24 (war) men. The armament consisted of 6-45,6cm torpedo tubes (4x bow, 2xstern), 1-7,5xcm gun and 1-2cm anti aircraft machine gun.
