The British navy water distillation ship Edgewater according to the Dutch newspaper Goessche Courant dated 30 July 1903
In the local Dutch newspaper Goessche Courant dated 30 July 1903 was a small news item published dealing with the purchase by the Royal British navy of the Edgewater. This ship had a capacity to distillate in 24 hours from seawater an amount of 225.000 litre (fresh) drinking water. This floating factory was mend tot supply the navy in wartime with fresh water and had on board wooden vats with a total capacity of 46.000 litre water. Strangely enough I haven’t been able yet to find more information dealing with this ship. Colledge in his book dealing with the ships of the British navy don’t mention her.
