The Algerian, British and American navies in the Mediterranean according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 26 November 1824

Cadiz, 6 November. According to tidings arrived an American corvette at Gibraltar of which captain reported that he hadn’t seen an Algerian squadron at sea neither heard of it. At the same time was a British frigate lying in the harbour of Algiers. Her captain warned the Dey that if he was hostile against the British allies Portugal, Naples and Sardinia the British navy would react.
