The American naval strength according to the Dutch newspaper Het Nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 26 December 1911

According to a tiding dated Washington 3 November evaluated president Taft (1) after his fleet review the American naval strength. He thought she was quite well and up in arms although missing enough destroyers and this lacking needed more attention than the fact that other countries were busy with building enormous strong and heavy cruisers. In his opinion should the Unites States be as good as prepared as other countries while a navy which wouldn’t full fill the highest expectations at all times was just a waste of money. His opinion was something well regarded by the Dutch journalist who remarked that the Netherlands (=government) should listen to this wise words.
