The Brazilian navy according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 2 August 1824

London, 27 July. A letter dated Pernambuco dated 8 June reported that captain John Tayloy hoisted his flag on board of the corvette Netheroy as commanding a nice squadron including the 68-gun frigate Paraguay commanded by captain Norton. This squadron blockaded at that moment the port of Pernambuco. Lord Cochrane departed with 74-gun Dom Pedro I, the 48-gun Karolina and the 28-gun Maria da Gloria towards Angola, Africa to destroy there two frigates of the enemy.
