Frankfurt, 10 February. The newspaper Spectateur Oriental of Smyrna dated 20 December 1826 published a news item dealing with the next incident. The brig of war Zebra commanded by captain Williams was recently during the night attacked by a Greek mistiek in the waters off Cape d’Oro. The Greek thought she was a merchant ship and fired some riffle shots. Williams let the mistiek approach and gave her a full broadside. As there came no reaction she was believed to be sunk. The French ship l’Amphitrite, destined from Marseille towards Canen was 26 November near the island Candia attacked and plundered by 4 mistieken while her crew was severely ill-treated.
