The French navy in the Mediterranean according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 31 August 1844

According to tidings from Toulon dated 24 August were orders received to fit out the brig la Ducouëdic (1) immediately while the prince de Joinville seemed needing smaller vessels to attack the Moroccan harbours in the Atlantic seaside. The departure of the hospital steam ship le Météore (2) towards the African coast was all ready announced. The hospital steamship le Grégeois (30 departed that day with the same destination. Both ships were to transports the wounded and sic from the army towards the hospitals.
