The Turkish navy at the river Bota according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 30 May 1829

The newspaper of St. Petersburg published a letter date Galacz 28 April according to which the Turkish attack the Russian forces at the mouth of the river Bota 22 April. Four large and several small Turkish vessels with soldiers and some guns coming from Silistria dropped the anchors for the Russian camp apparently waiting for reinforcements coming from Rutschuk. During the night the Russians send sharpshooters to the other side of the river and placed some guns on their side of the river- The next day in the morning guns and sharpshooters harassed the Turkish which intended to flee to Silistria. Just as the Russian commanding officer wanted to pursue them, 9 large vessels and 20 gunboats appeared coming from Rustschuk and the Russians were forced to defend their self. Due to the fact that the Turkish force of Silistria fled the other Turkish force finally decided to retreat.
