From
London arrived the tiding that the British
government was informed by the American government that the latter intended
torpedo boats with a total tonnage of 19,000 ton not to decommission with as
result that the age limit set by the naval treaty of London for these vessels was exceeded. The
reason for this decision was not known but perhaps related to an announcement
of Hoare that England wouldn’t decommission 5
cruisers which reached the age limit.(1)
