USA navy keeping old torpedo boats in service according to the Dutch newspaper Het Vaderland- staat- en letterkundig nieuwsblad daily edition dated 20 December 1936

From London arrived the tiding that the British government was informed by the American government that the latter intended torpedo boats with a total tonnage of 19,000 ton not to decommission with as result that the age limit set by the naval treaty of London for these vessels was exceeded. The reason for this decision was not known but perhaps related to an announcement of Hoare that England wouldnt decommission 5 cruisers which reached the age limit.(1)
