A theoretical strength of the French navy according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Tilburgsche Courant dated 29 September 1906

The theoretically composition of the French navy was according to the wishes of the Admiralty 38 armoured cruisers, 6 scouts, 109 destroyers, 170 torpedo boats, 82 attack and 49 defence submarines. The number of armoured ship was at the moment far from the desired number. There were 6 on stocks and in 19707 was started with the building of 5 destroyers and 10 submarines.
