American fruit reefer Segovia heavily damaged by fire according to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf dated 21 December 1931

An item dated New York the 21st reported that the large ship Segovia being built for account of the United Fruit Company was burned to the waterline. What caused the disaster was still unknown. Some firemen were wounded when they tried to extinguish the fire. The ship with building costs of 3,5 million dollar was baptized on 15 August by Mrs. Hoover and to commissioned on 1 January next year.
