Austrian floating battery stationed at Venice according to the Dutch newspaper Opregte Haarlemsche courant dated 25 March 1861

An item dealing with the Austrian defence works at Venice reported that the with iron plates fitted out floating battery all praise got.(1) She was armed with 24-48 pdrs and to be stationed in one of the main channels.

1. Venice is than still Austrian territory and was not earlier as in October 1866 part of the Kingdom of Italy.
