Brazilian navy under American command according to the Dutch newspaper Limburgsch dagblad dated 15 October 1942

This Dutch newspaper published a news item dated Buenos Aires 14 October which referred to Argentinean newspapers claiming that the Brazilian fleet was now commanded by the American admiral Jonas Ingram,(1) something which was big news in Argentina as suggested by the Dutch newspaper.

Note
1. Presumably this was the American vice admiral Jonas Howard Ingram (15 October 1886-9 September 1952) appointed in September 1942 as Commander South Atlantic Force with headquarters in Brazil and his command included the Brazilian air force and navy. He played a very important role in a good training and fitting out of the Brazilian navy who was involved in operating against the German U-Boats and commerce raiders and patrolling in the Pacific.
