An item reported that around 14 June the steamship Gordias was expected at Surinam.(1) It was the first voyage to this destination for this in 1939 built ship of the KNSM. On board was a cargo of 170 tons for Surinam coming from Madeira. The Gordias was fitted out with ventilated cargo holds and especially suited for fruit transport. From Surinam she was to visit Demerara Barbados and Curacao.

1. In 1939 built as de Jonge Willem on account of the Middellandse Zee compagnie and in 1940 purchased by the KNSM, Amsterdam. Seized by the German forces and commissioned as the RO 25. Found in 1945 at Bergen, Norway and since1946 in service of the KNSM. In 1959 was she sold to the former Yugoslavian Stefanich, Miami, United States and renamed Christopher. Her new shipping company was named Isthmus Steamship and Salvage Company. On the funnel were the letters SIS visible. In 1965 sold to be broken up.
